Call for Integrated Academic Training Programmes

    Dear Member,

Hopefully, many of you will have already seen the invitation to apply to host integrated academic training programmes by UK CRC/MMC.
Forensic mental health has been identified as a priority.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 12 October 2006 at noon.

Application forms and guidance notes are available through:
    http://www.nccrcd.nhs.uk/intetacatrain/ukcrcmmciatround2

The priority given to forensic psychiatry appears to have occurred in response to the academic development paper written by FPRS members (Taylor, P.J. and Thomson, L.D.G.) and endorsed by the Forensic Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
It is gratifying to note that joint campaigning work is successful but it is now essential that we apply to host the integrated academic training programmes in forensic psychiatry.

Sadly, from my own perspective, I am not eligible to apply as the scheme is only relevant to England and Wales.
As someone who is therefore independent of the process, I would like to monitor the number of applications that go forward in forensic psychiatry and our success rate in obtaining these. I would be very grateful therefore, if members would let me know of any organisations/organisational partnerships that they are aware have put forward an application or intend to do so.

Please notify any applications to my secretary, Mrs Sheila McLennan, by email at s.mclennan@ed.ac.uk.

All such information will be confidential and FPRS members will be informed only of the number of applications and the outcome, but not the names of organisations involved.

    Best wishes with your applications.

    Yours sincerely
    Dr Lindsay Thomson
