7-9 February 2007, “How to get Into Research”
Cardiff lecturers to be approached, Roland and Juan - LT/PT.
Liaise with SpR group/Scottish SpR group - LT.
Obtain a speaker on statistics - PT.
Session to cover issues such as statistical analysis, power calculation and how to talk to a statistician

3. Academic Training Programme Bids in Forensic Psychiatry
Following the paper on Academic Forensic Psychiatry (Taylor and Thomson, 2005) which was endorsed by the Forensic Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the call for integrated academic training programmes particularly highlighted forensic psychiatry. FPRS is currently aware of 5 forensic psychiatry academic centres that have applied and will monitor the results.

Research Assessment Exercise:
A positive response was received to the issues regarding research in forensic psychiatry raised in our letter to Prof McGuffin.
The correspondence from LT and Professor Peter McGuffin will be placed on the FPRS website with his consent.

It is possible to link any academic Forensic Psychiatry Websites to the FPRS website.

6. Finance
Professor Grubin reported that the group has approximately £1,100 and he will do a full finance report for our February meeting. At the present time it has not been possible to arrange for foreign currency and standing orders or cheques for membership. It has been agreed that we will accept foreign membership on a no fee basis and monitor the numbers. If there is sufficient demand then a formal arrangement will be made.
